Deep Question...
Do YOU know who I am?
I mean... nah ofc you don't, I don't know who I am either... And not in a literal sense, like yeah I'm Anthony, born 2010, likes tech, CATS, has impostor syndrome for basically all of his hobbies, and was born way too late. But is that actually me?
What defines ME? Like who AM I? Am I the result of the choices I made? Am I what's written in my DNA? Am I a result of the environment I grew up/lived/live in? Am I just a cluster of cells? And are those cells just Molecules? And are those Molecules just Atoms? And are those Atoms just Subatomic Particles? Is there anything smaller than a Subatomic Particle? Science says no, but science before the 20th century also said the atom was the smallest particle that could exist. And if we ARE just Atoms, then how is a human any different from a computer? Like sure a human has organs etc... but those are also just made of Atoms!
So, after reading all this dumb bullshit i Wrote, which probably reads like shit, you might be thinking to yourself: "Wow, this Anthony guy is so knowledgeable and cool"...
No? Nobody? Ok I guess... Well then you might actually be thinking "So what makes me different from a computer then? If we're both made of atoms, and we both transform inputs into outputs, then WHY and HOW am I any different from a PC?" And the "answer", if you can call it that, is actually quite simple: Consciousness The thing that makes you different from a computer, or from an AI, is that YOU are conscious. And that's actually SO COOL, just read the wikipedia page, all right? Unlike most wiki pages this one's quite easy to digest.
Another cool thing would be explaining why saying "I wish I was born sooner" doesn't make any sense! Let me explain: YOU were a little sperm cell, who got lucky (or unlucky if you're a pessimist) and won the race to the uterus. You then developed and grew into whatever you grew into, and the rest is history. But the juice of this argument is: Imagine if your dad jorked it the day before, and you would've found yourself inside of a sock or smthg, another sperm would've won the race and you wouldn't have been born.
This isn't just you being different, older or younger, it's literally NOT you, you wouldn't EXIST. And if you think I'm just a dumbass on the web, then think again, cause I'm literally HIM. Just kidding (maybe not). But seriously though, this IS actually a thing, and it's called the NonIdentity Problem (Stanford University btw)
